As a Bangalore boy, I’ve subconsciously known this for a while, but decided to sketch it out in the midst of a meeting to make a point.

Modern vs Traditional isn’t good vs bad. Premium vs Economy isn’t good vs bad.

This is how I see consumer buying behaviours for D2C products, fashion, restaurants and other services.

I’d love to see someone from Swiggy, Zomato, Myntra or Urban Co apply data to my “gut feeling” segmentation.

I don’t know other Indian cities in enough detail, but I suspect the demographics of no other Indian city can be articulated so clearly.
