Here is an interesting experiment … how effective is advertising directly related to paid blogging?
PayPerPost.com makes it easier for bloggers to define advertising channels that will allow bloggers to see if their articles should be motivated with a financial incentive. Most top bloggers get some sort of financial or semi-financial benefits from their posts (even getting sneak peaks at products is a benefit). So how about the smaller/less popular blogs?
