Sometimes it’s just worth it to put in a crappy hack to get on with life and finish the day’s build.
All programmers vent their frustration (or joy) through their work … either as easter eggs, images or even source code comments.
See Linux’s list of swear words, or even Microsoft’s Windows 2000 source code.
Here is what I saw in Amit’s code today …
onClick=”echo(\”saala chal nahi raha\”);”
What can I say Amit … some days you are the don, other days you are the donkey :-).
Better luck with this on wednesday.

lol! India is celebrating independence day today.. And I am happy solving programming issues… this is my way of celebrating my Independence of working when i want to work.. Frustation in programming is just a part of programmers’ life.
I second you that “we are don someday…”

Happy Independence day.
And yes, each person has their own version of what Independence means.
Lets hope there are more of the “don” days and less of the “key” days.
Heh.

My favourite arrogant source comment theme ends like this…
“If the above explanation did not make any sense, you should not be maintaining this code since you lack the necessary skills”
Most of my sweraing happens in source control commit messages for 2 reasons:
* does not litter source thus slowing compile/interpret time
* only people who want are serious about reading stuff get abused

Well, I left messages in commit notes, but after a while realized, no one really read them. Must be an internal problem … gotta fix it, huh?
Also, having smaller teams means commit messages are usually ignored in favour of IM chats.
