Remember those “is to” relationships taught in school?
Guy Kawasaki :: Filmloop
as
Scoble :: Microsoft Smartphones
For once, I actually think this kind of product placement/viral marketing is good (is placement the right word here?)
These guys know enough about technology and technical people to only talk about technically sound aspects of the products. But then again, that other relationship, however publicly known, should be considered.

Well, Scoble and Kawasaki fall into a similar frame as Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal.
They know “enough”. Not everything.
I don’t expect AnandTech or Tom’s hardware kind of reviews from these people.
My personal bench-mark for these reviews is simple … if I can use their reviews to explain the product/technology to my non-techy friends and family … then it’s good enough.

“technically sound aspects of the products. ”
Scoble has decent breadth of knowledge, but is hardly technically sound (lacks depth). Ultimately he’s all about whats cool/faddish.
There is nothing special about explaining simple technology to non-techies from a technical point of view. From a teaching point of view, its special of course.
So I’d replace technically sound with “a basic understanding of technology”. The keyword is *basic*.
Finally, it is *placement*. Please look up Scoble’s HDTV posts, then look up the XBox 360 and connect the dots.
