Simple logic, really.
The large mailboxes allow you to store mails on webserver for longer time, so when u are away from your own computer, you can always still access the mails using the web interface.
This has always been an important consideration for me.

Interesting.
Though, honestly, PGtGM specifically replaces your browser.
Looks like it literally downloads the mail using port 80 (http) and then just re-packages it so the POP3 reader can read it.
As far as I can see, this is about the difference between viewing gmail on IE, mozilla and LYNX. They all download the content using http, then re-format it depending on what screen you are viewing it on.
I just liked PGtGM so much because it reminded me of a very very old and helpful program called ShellSock! (anyone remember that anymore?!)
It was used (against?!) VSNL when shell accounts were expensive, and the only way to view pages on a windows based-browser was to use ShellSock. Using scripts, it downloaded the html and related images to your shell account, then moved them to your local computer and displayed it.
Much like a website extractor would work. They weren’t illegal.
I think neither was ShellSock, and neither is PGtGM.
So, would you use PGtGM?
